It is the current market leader for commercial bitmap and image manipulation software, and is the flagship product of Adobe Systems. is the consumer version of the Adobe Photoshop raster image editing product, targeted at hobbyist group of users and hence sold at a fraction (roughly 1/6th) of the cost of the professional product. Adobe Systems, the publisher of Adobe Photoshop, discourages use of the term "photoshop" as a verb out of concern that it may undermine the company's trademark.
